An exploration, immersion and collective evening on Gerard Manley Hopkins’ The Leaden Echo and The Golden Echo. A collaboration with Stuart Delves at the Cornucopia Rooms, Unit Four in Hawick, Scotland on the 23rd October 2024.

The evening explored Gerard Manley Hopkins the man, the poet and his place in Victorian England. Four recitations of The Leaden Echo and The Golden Echo immersed all of us in the room. These included recitations by my co-host Stuart Delves, Richard Burton, Margaret Tait (as film and word) and myself, shared below.

A fascinating and wide-ranging discussion arose from the readings and the evening culminated in a magnificent collective reading of The Leaden Echo and The Golden Echo shared at the end of this post.
